A blog dedicated to crocheting with a taste of hip-hop, soul, and some spiritual flavor on the side. I even throw in bits and pieces about life in Los Angeles.
Back in school...well, the semester started on the 6th. Man, that was a short winter break...
We had a nasty blackout at my place this past Friday. Had our power knocked out for half of the day. Luckily I woke up to lights turned on and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air on BET.
Got a new smartphone last month...and dropped the damn thing. 😒 Now I gotta get the screen fixed. Going down to the video game store in Lawndale to do just that after I tackle this homework like I was playing for the Rams.
And I listed some stuff on Etsy recently...prior to a cracked phone screen.
Man, what a day...I don't know if that's the medicine talking (I had a headache earlier that just wouldn't quit) or if I'm just naturally geeked, but my story and shop were featured on Crochet Concupiscence. Excuse me while I take some deep breaths... Not only that, I was also featured in their corresponding digital magazine, Happily Hooked, some time ago. Ain't that grand! Now in case you need some receipts, I can give you some receipts. Here's the link below: My Story on Crochet Concupiscence
I'm actually showing my face for once! Normally I hide behind the internet, but I needed to break out of that shell for once. I'd periodically check their website for some cool stories, but when I saw my portrait and name, hot damn... In case some of you have never heard of this website, I'll explain it in a nutshell: Crochet Concupiscence is for crochet nuts everywhere in the world, and how they get through their days by weaving their respective hooks through the stitches of life. I'm already feeling jittery due to those head meds, but I now have the shakes of joy like I sipped on some Starbucks coffee for the first time. Now I gotta go; I'm suddenly in the mood to crochet some more hip hop stuff. Y'all be cool, now!
While currently messing around on Etsy, I clicked on a thread in the forums about submitting my shop site for indexing, and came across a video of a beautiful sistah who purchased one of my crowns a few months ago.
The Most High certainly works in mysterious ways, I tell ya... And I say she looks regal in that hat! Look her up on YouTube; her name is ieattofu68. Sis, I want to give you a shout out and touch base with you. I hope everything is everything, to quote Lauryn Hill (😊). May you be blessed, and I'd like to do the honor of crowning you again one day. Peace, sis!
We lost way too many good folks...even Prince, the Purple King himself (son of a [bleep]). The orange demon goblin Donald Drumpf...excuse me, Trump, will be America's new president, and I ain't happy about it.
Ooh wee...my blog is dusty. Yeah I know I've been AWOL since Prince died, but life is a real kick in the ass. That, and I've gotten feistier, too. And I forgot to mention that I turned 32 on the 2nd this month, and that my blog is in its anniversary phase (been three years since I started it). I've put up some stuff on Etsy but I'm too lazy to pull up a whole bunch of pictures, so I'll show you the latest uploads.
I don't even know what to say... Just found out this morning that Prince died. That story hit me like a sack of bricks. And I'm still feeling the aftereffects. Last week, there was a news story circulating the internet about him making an emergency landing due to flu-like symptoms after canceling a gig in Atlanta, at the Fox Theatre. Supposedly, he was doing well. Then today I hear the news about him passing...?! Seriously...Prince is dead?!! Right now, I have no words to describe this whole situation as I'm trying to process the fact that the music world has lost another talented icon. Truth is, I want to weep buckets of tears but I can't bring myself to do it. Hearing of his death feels like another part of my childhood died right along with him. I was raised on his music, just like everyone else on this earth. With that, I bid farewell to this great man. I would like to thank him for such beautiful music. Hopefully he and Vanity will throw a splendid concert within the Pearly Gates. Rest In Peace...
Been lazy in the blogging department as of late, but busy in other avenues...so busy to the point where I've blown my dough looking for another yarn fix (you guys already know I'm a crochet junkie). As a result, I've been making some overly colorful stuff (the louder, the better) and putting it in the store, aside from tending to local customers and working on some wholesale product to take to these shops in town. The latest crowns on Etsy...
